Becky was a teacher for over 20 years and is now a passionate advocate for the mental health needs of children and young people.
She was inspired to make a move from teaching to working with HeadStart, a National Lottery funded organisation with a focus on emerging mental health needs in children and young people because she wanted to have a bigger impact - feeling that she was fighting against the tide in the education system.
During this time she was privileged to work with over 40 Primary and Secondary schools and FE Colleges with a focus on a whole organisation approach to mental health and wellbeing of all members of the community.
She is now Director of her own business working with schools and organisations who work with young people to help them train staff, shape strategy and create provision with the aim of meeting mental health needs as early as possible so we can avoid crisis.
Becky is now on a mission to ensure we are not only focussing on mental health needs but also the context that children and young people are living in which can lead to the mental health conditions - we need a response to mental health which includes looking at housing, poverty, discrimination and more to truly have an impact
